The South Coast to Valley REN is partnering with Bright Morning to provide discussion and training around designing and facilitating adult learning spaces. The RENs work to establish and maintain systems of support for all educators but in particular educators of color and those from a diverse background.
The Artful Design workshop will be facilitated by Bright Morning on May 14\, 15\, 16\, 2024.
In this 3-day workshop\, you will learn the foundational habits of Artful Design and Facilitation and what it takes to create adult learning spaces where participants feel seen\, cared for\, challenged\, and excited to learn. Drawing from Elena Aguilar and Lori Cohen's book\, The PD Book: 7 Habits that Transform Professional Development\, you'll learn a process to determine the purpose of your sessions\, how to design agendas with clear outcomes and principles of adult learning in mind\, how to facilitate intentionally\, and how to assess learning for impact. You'll also be guided in a deep exploration of how to respond to your own emotions when they come up while facilitating PD\, how to respond to the emotions of others\, and how to navigate complex power dynamics.

Participants are required to have their own copy of The PD Book: 7 Habits that Transform Professional Development. The book is not included in the registration fee and must be acquired separately. Participants who complete the workshop will receive a book reimbursement stipend of $50.

Because this workshop takes place during the workday there is no additional stipend beyond the book reimbursement.
The SC2V REN will provide funds for substitute coverage for confirmed participants who need a substitute teacher.
ALL applicants will initially be put on a waitlist. Sign up by April 1st. You can expect to hear if you have been offered a spot or waitlisted by April 10th.
