Sometimes\, these needs are quite significant. In this session\, we&rsquo\;ll dive deep into how to support older students in learning how to decode words: what is word recognition? What is decoding? How do we identify students who need help &ndash\; and what are the powerful routines we can use to move them along?</span></big></span></span><br/>&nbsp\;</p><br/><br/><br/><br/><p><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:Georgia\,serif"><big>This professional learning session will focus on supporting upper elementary and secondary literacy\, exploring evidence-based strategies to develop literacies and empower students to take ownership of their learning.</big></span></span></p><br/><br/><br/><br/><p><br/><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:Georgia\,serif"><big><span style="color:#000000">Julia B. Lindsey\, Ph.D.\, is a literacy expert who partners with districts to transform reading outcomes. She is the author of <em>Reading Above the Fray\, </em>and <em>Small Groups\, Big Results</em>. Dr. Lindsey&rsquo\;s work focuses on building teacher knowledge\, supporting the implementation of evidence-based practices and materials\, and ensuring all students can become successful\, empowered young readers.<br/><br/>Dr. Lindsey holds a BS in Psychology from Davidson College\, a MAT from Relay Graduate School of Education\, and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan.
