At this full day training (8 am - 3 pm)\, 6-12 Teachers \;will experience Building Thinking Classrooms \;(BTC) math practices.

Across the US and in Oregon\, there is growing teacher enthusiasm around BTC practices. In a BTC classroom\, K-12 students work on math tasks in collaborative teams. Twenty years of research backs up these approaches: students engage more\, learn more\, and get excited about math.

Hosted by Clackamas ESD Math Specialist\, Lori MacKenzie

You will:

Personally experience a BTC activity\, in the role of a student

Learn about BTC Practices in \;"\;Toolkit 1"\;

Visit middle and/or high school BTC classrooms

Ask students and educators questions about the impacts of BTC

Notes:

This event will be hosted at Rock Creek in Clackamas.

Lite bites\, coffee\, and tea will be provided in the morning. We will have gluten-free and vegetarian options available for lunch. If you have other strict dietary restrictions\, we encourage you to bring snacks or other food items to make sure your personal needs are met.

Because we will visit classrooms\, this workshop has limited participants. If this event fills\, more workshops wil be offered later in the year.
