Engaging Caregivers about Attendance Concerns

Back

Event Details

While supporting student attendance, many times we must work with parents/caregivers to address root causes of chronic absenteeism. In some cases the barriers to attending school are family wide. Whether the caregiver you are working with is indifferent to their child's attendance or as equally concerned as the school, there are many different tactics to utilize when navigating these conversations. In this session we will look at common caregiver responses, case studies, areas of needed support, and how to increase effective parenting strategies. This session is specifically designed for educators and support staff leading attendance initiatives at school sites and open for school districts located in Columbia, Clatsop, Tillamook, and Washington counties.
