The job of today’s ELD teacher is a little different than it was a decade ago. Oregon’s standards for English Language Proficiency, the ELPA21, and the content-based or integrated ELD movement have shifted pedagogy in this specialty area of education. Participants in this two-day workshop will learn about the ever changing world of multilingual education, how to keep up, and how to implement best practices no matter what the program model of the moment is. Participants will take away problem-solving processes for programs and strategies for instruction that are timeless and effective. The text English Language Learners and the New Standards by Margaret Heritage, Aída Walqui, and Robert Linquanti will be provided.
Coffee service and lunch provided. Please dress in layers for your temperature comfort. Pre-registration is required. Please bring a battery-charged laptop or tablet computer to use.
