Making Content Comprehensible: The SIOP Model K-12

Event Details


 
Teachers will learn to use the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol or SIOP Model, a planning and teaching framework that consists of eight components and thirty features to help teachers integrate best teaching practices in their daily instruction. This professional learning will address developmentally and linguistically appropriate strategies and materials that effectively support and promote the academic achievement of all students, with particular attention to those for whom English is an additional language.

The text, Making Content Comprehensible for (Elementary or Secondary) English Learners by Jana Echevarria, MaryEllen Vogt, and Deborah Short, will be provided. Completion of all activities are required for 18 PDUs.
