Building Academic Language is an instructional workshop for teachers that focuses on teaching and learning academic language. Teachers will learn to analyze the language demands of academic tasks and strategies for demystifying the invisible medium of English. Based on research, this workshop addresses culturally and linguistically diverse students and challenges teachers to dissect the curriculum and their own teaching. The text, Building Academic Language by Jeff Zwiers, will be provided.

Completion of all activities are required for 18 PDUs. Coffee and lunch are provided. Please dress in layers for temperature comfort. Bring a battery-charged laptop.

Price for Clackamas County School Districts (Partner Districts) = $300  All others = $350
