ODE Listening Session (HB2656)

Event Details

House Bill 2656 (2023) calls for an advisory committee to “review accountability programs in other states and make recommendations . . . on the expansion or revision of an education accountability framework.’’ ODE has actively begun to organize for this effort as required by the legislation.

The advisory committee has engaged in several sessions to orient to the “current state” of accountability and various state and federal programs. For more information, review the overview of Oregon’s PreK-12 Education Accountability Ecosystem. To better inform the advisory committee, ODE is hosting a series of listening sessions where we hope to better understand priorities, challenges and ideas for improving accountability from folks in the education community of Oregon.

Potential Questions:

·         What are the highest priorities for your school community?
·         From your perspective, what are the primary challenges that school districts and           schools are currently facing?
·         What do you believe constitutes effective accountability for schools and school districts?
·         What key features or characteristics do you desire in an ideal accountability framework?
·         What else do you want the advisory committee to know?
