In this module you will do a number of experiments to get your students to believe they can grow their ability and show them strategies for doing so. We are learning how to communicate three critical messages to all  students

“What we’re doing is important; you can do it; and I’m not going to give up on you.”

Purpose:

  • To develop conscious competence in communicating high expectation messages to every student
  • To apply knowledge and skills in developing students’ believe in the growth mindset
  • Apply the concepts of “areas of performance,” “repertoire,” and” matching” to develop students’ belief in the growth mindset
  • Expand/refresh your repertoire of teaching strategies
Objectives:
  • Teach the concept of growth mindset and brain malleability to students.
  • Use words and actions in regularly recurring arenas of classroom life that send high
  • expectations messages to students about your belief in their capacity to learn at high levels
  • Incorporate growth mindset language as an integral part of your teaching
  • Explicitly teach learning strategies and connect them to effective effort
Who should attend?
This course is applicable for K-12 classroom teachers, special ed. teachers, and their building administrators who have participated in Module 1: The Knowledge Base of Teaching.

Virtual Follow up: September 24th & October 8th from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm 
Location: Zoom

Module 1 is the only prerequisite for all additional Modules.
