Event hosted by the Oregon Department of Education:

Through discussion and examples, participants will understand:

  • The difference between academic accommodations and modifications
  • The obligation to modify policy under Section 504
  • Related services offered under Section 504
  • How to write effective 504 plans

Presenter:
Dr. Marinda Peters (she/ella) is a Section 504 and Civil Rights Specialist at the Oregon Department of Education (ODE).  In her role, Marinda primarily specializes in rights and obligations under Section 504 and Title II of the ADA. She has 17 years of experience working in public education as a professional school counselor, behavior coach and 504 Coordinator. Marinda has an MA in Counseling Psychology from Pacific University and earned her PhD in Counseling in 2017 from Oregon State University.
