IEP: Procedural Safeguards - RTAP Series

Event Details



PART 1 - Participants will:

  • Gain a general understanding of the Procedural Safeguard notice
  • Identify and describe the various the following safeguards:
    • Independent Educational Evaluation
    • Prior Written Notice (PWN)
    • Parental Consent Access to Education Records
    • Interim Alternative Placement Settings
    • Private School Placements by Parents

PART 2 - Participants will:
  • Gain a general understanding of the Procedural Safeguard notice
  • Identify and describe the various dispute resolution options available in Oregon which include:
    • Mediation
    • State Complaint
    • Due Process Complaint
    • Facilitated IEP
Upon registering, you will gain access to the training resources from the Oregon Department of Education for this designated topic to review on your own time. These materials are self-paced and non-PDU-earning. Registrants can gain initial access to this material through June 13, 2025. ​The Office of Enhancing Student Opportunities and the Oregon Association of Education Service Districts worked collaboratively to create a partnership where each Education Service District provides regional professional development and technical assistance to special education teachers, case managers, and directors through the support of a Regional Technical Assistance Provider (RTAP).
