The Oregon Science Leaders (OSL) is a free, regional network for K-16 science educators and science leaders.
Vision:
Be brave and impactful together, through community and collaboration
Students who are marginalized in our systems are at the center of our work
Mission:
Work for science education that is meaningful, culturally relevant, and personally empowering
Transform science education systems to meet the needs and goals of every student (demographics of success and enrollment match overall school and district demographics)
Not yet a member? Join us join the OSL listserv and learn about local science opportunities and recommended resources For the 24-25 school year, the OSL will host monthly meetings:
First Tuesday, Oct.-May
Recommended for science specialists, TOSAs, building and district administrators, and teacher leaders
We will use the first portion of each meeting to dive into the Key Actions in OSL’s Action Guide: “Building an Equitable, NGSS-Aligned K-12 Science Program.”
After exploring Key Action ideas and recommendations, participants will discuss context-specific implications and next steps. Building and district level administrators are encouraged to attend (along with science specialists and teacher leaders).
Participants will break-out into peer discussions. Topics may include:
Science curriculum: adoption, implementation, refinement
Transforming science education pedagogy (Ambitious Science Teaching in action, teacher learning and collaboration, system reforms)
Continue Action Guide discussions
