Event Details

Event Description

This comprehensive training focuses on building a sustainable, community-based violence prevention and behavioral safety (threat) assessment system. Day 2 will focus on building and improving upon community-based Level 2 teams, which should include district-level administrators, district-level mental health and assessment practitioners, representatives from juvenile justice and law enforcement, administrators and practitioners from community mental health agencies, child welfare, and other community agencies local to a team that might help to support students of concern or promote community safety.

The training provides the following:

  • A review of a centralized and community-based Level 2 threat assessment system as support to each school district’s Level 1 teams and as a regional resource
  • Direct instruction on conducting Level 2 assessments
  • A review of local and regional resources and implementation issues within each school district as well as available youth-serving agency support for a community-based, Level 2 team
  • A brainstorming process and discussion of how to adapt the Level 2 team to the available resources in a given county
  • Case study exercises as example of application
