This virtual event will begin on April 10, 2025 with a short refresher on June 6.
Learn how to shift and adapt our communication to different audiences quickly. You can do it, but it requires skills, practice, and intention.
This will be a highly engaging
virtual session, with breakout room activities and opportunities to engage in the chat. We encourage you to keep cameras on, if possible, especially in breakout rooms. There is a refresher/follow-up on June 6, 2025 from 830-930 AM.
Agenda and outcomes
• Learn skills so all audiences can quickly and easily understand your communication.
• Practice organizing and reducing writing by 20-80% without removing content or “dumbing down”.
• Learn ways to make communication in English easier to translate effectively and efficiently.
• Build awareness of language exclusion, power, and privilege.
• Learn how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can improve your writing.
• Deepen understanding of your target audiences and their communication priorities.
• Improve trust, efficiency, inclusion, recruitment, retention, and more.
The challenges these trainings address:
• People feel excluded, disempowered, and trust you less when they don’t understand you.
• People don’t read communication that is unnecessarily long.
• Almost nobody tells you when they don’t understand you.
• Translations can fail to expand access if the English version being translated is not accessible and inclusive.
• Inequities of power and privilege will continue to worsen these problems if we don’t discuss and address them.
