This training opportunity is only available to employees of school districts in Northwest Regional ESD's ELL Consortium. 
Those districts are: 
Astoria SD, Banks SD, Clatskanie SD, Gaston SD, Jewell SD, Knappa SD, Neah-Kah-Nie SD, Nestucca Valley SD, Rainier SD, Scappoose SD, St Helens SD,  Vernonia SD,  Warrenton-Hammond and Yamhill-Carlton SD

The Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) is a research-based framework for planning and delivering content instruction while supporting English language development Making Content Comprehensible for English Learners: The SIOP Model (Echevarría, Vogt, & Short).

This workshop will introduce all 8 features and 30 components of the model, with special attention to vocabulary instruction, oral language routines, and crafting language objectives.  This workshop is designed for teachers who have been trained in the SIOP model in the past but have yet to fully implement it, as well as teachers who have not yet been trained in SIOP.


Registration will close Friday, April 25, 2025 @ 5:00 pm

Presenter Dan Kimbrow is an English Learner Specialist with Clackamas Education Services District, former principal and ELD teacher, first trained in the SIOP in 2005.
