This training session will guide participants through the critical process of crafting measurable annual goals and aligning them with legal and educational requirements. Attendees will also learn effective progress monitoring techniques to ensure student success and growth. This training was developed with a focus on the K-12 setting and registration for this event does not require any prerequisites. This training does not cover information about Synergy SE or the Oregon Special Education System (OrSPED).
What You’ll Learn:
- How to write S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals that address both academic and functional needs.
- Best practices for tracking and monitoring student progress to adjust interventions as needed.
- Tools and strategies for creating individualized, ambitious, and observable goals aligned with data from the student’s Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP).
- Methods for reporting progress to parents in a clear, objective, and measurable way.

Who Should Attend:
Whether you’re new to navigating IEPs or looking for a refresher, this training is designed for Special Education Teachers, IEP Case Managers, Speech-Language Pathologists, School Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the IEP processes and procedures.
