Ed Talk: The Tale of Two Young Teachers
Join us this spring for an interactive series of monthly virtual events helping you plan a path towards a career in education. Co-sponsored by the Willamette Education Service District and Salem-Keizer Public Schools, these free events are open to any individual interested in learning how to become a teacher.
Our April Ed Talk: The Tale of Two Young Teachers will feature Oregon teachers Tyler (Corvallis SD) and Rebekka (Central SD) Messenger. They are a dynamic husband-and-wife teaching duo with a passion for education and a whole lot of experience between them. Tyler’s been shaping young minds at the primary level for 18 years, while Rebbekka has spent the last decade teaching secondary ELA, Social Studies, and ESOL. Together, they’ve taught across three different places—Colorado, Germany, and now Oregon—bringing unique global perspectives to their classrooms.
Interestingly, teaching wasn’t their first career for either of them. They both made the leap to education later on, and now they’re excited to share what they've learned along the way. From setting healthy work-life boundaries to navigating the highs and lows of teaching at both the primary and secondary levels, and even managing their marriage as fellow educators—they have plenty of stories and insights to offer. It’s a journey full of successes, challenges, and lessons learned, and they can't wait to dive into it all!
