Aligning Literacy Standards Workshop: Teacher Training in Higher Education

Event Details

The Aligning Literacy Standards Workshop will gather together those who work in higher education, teacher training, and Education Service Districts.

During the first half of the afternoon, you will hear an update from the Teacher Standards and Practice Commission (TSPC) on Oregon's new Early Literacy Educator Preparation Standards. You will be introduced to a curriculum alignment planning tool (CAPT) that can help you update syllabi and courses to meet the new standards. A guided workshop using the CAPT will get you started. Please bring your laptop with digital access to a syllabus or set of course you are interested in updating to meet the new standards.

During the second half of the afternoon, you will hear from guest speaker, Bethany Moffat from City University Seattle, on the process for becoming an International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Accredited University. Then, we will close the afternoon with round Table Conversations about the Science of Reading.

This is a FREE in-person event. Doors will open at 12PM and the workshop begins at 12:15PM. Feel free to bring your own lunch. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
