Join us for this introductory training designed to guide you through the essential components of the IEP process. We’ll cover everything from Child Find and referral to eligibility, IEP team roles, and how to lead effective and collaborative meetings. The session also includes a deeper dive into procedural notifications, including Procedural Safeguards, Notices of Team Meetings, and Prior Written Notice. You'll leave with practical tools, helpful resources, and a clearer understanding of the timelines, responsibilities, and documentation requirements that support compliant and student-centered IEPs. This session will not be recorded.

Instructors:

Profile Picture of Malory Turner, NWRESD Special Education Professional Learning CoachMalory Turner serves as the Special Education Professional Learning Coach, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Liaison, and Regional Technical Assistance Provider at NWRESD. In her role, she collaborates with special educators, specialists, related service providers, and directors to deliver professional learning and technical assistance that supports their work. Malory holds a Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education from Pacific University, a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Sciences with a focus on Human Services from Oregon State University, and a Certificate in Childhood Studies from Bangor University. With a strong commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities, Malory brings a wide range of experience in both educational and therapeutic recreational settings. She has worked in education for nearly a decade, serving in roles such as Special Education Instructional Assistant, Special Education Teacher, Mentor Teacher, and Teacher Leader. 

Profile Picture of Sarah Walker, NWRESD Special Education Instructional Learning CoachSarah Walker has been an educator for over twenty years, serving in various roles including teacher, special educator, and administrator. She is currently a special education instructional coach at Northwest Regional ESD, supporting new educators. She has worked in K–12 education across both general and special education settings, supporting a wide range of student populations. Sarah is passionate about ensuring that all students receive a high-quality educational experience and about equipping educators with the knowledge and skills to meet diverse student needs. She has attended Purdue University, Oakland City University, Lewis & Clark College, and Portland State University, earning her bachelor's, master's, and administrative licensure in leadership and administration.
