Shared Vision, Shared Success: Building Partnership-Driven IEP Teams with Families
This session equips participants with practical strategies for partnering with families of students with disabilities throughout the IEP process. Grounded in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the training highlights communication techniques, family-friendly tools, and practices that strengthen collaboration and lead to improved partnerships with families.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Explain the legal foundations in IDEA that guarantee parents’ meaningful participation in IEP development and review.
- Apply family-centered communication strategies to foster trust and transparency before, during, and after IEP meetings.
- Integrate Parent Training & Information (PTI) tools—such as the Parent Input Statement and One Page Profile—to co-create strengths-based present-levels.
- Implement proactive connections that link families to individualized PTI supports (support line, targeted workshops, dispute-resolution guidance) throughout the year, enabling proactive problem solving and collaboration.
