IEP Refresher: Annual Goals

Join for a quick refresh on your understanding of writing effective annual IEP goals. This session will explore what makes an IEP goal both legally compliant and educationally meaningful. You’ll walk away with a clear understanding of goal components and how to align them with data from the student's present levels. Through examples, guided practice, and actionable tools, participants will learn how to write goals that are individualized and measurable.

Participants will:
- Understand the legal requirements for annual IEP goals
- Identify and apply all six essential components of an IEP goal
- Analyze examples 
- Practice using checklists for compliance

Instructor:

Malory Turner serves as the Special Education Professional Learning Coach, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Liaison, and Regional Technical Assistance Provider at NWRESD. In her role, she collaborates with special educators, specialists, related service providers, and directors to deliver professional learning and technical assistance that supports their work. Malory holds a Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education from Pacific University, a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Sciences with a focus on Human Services from Oregon State University, and a Certificate in Childhood Studies from Bangor University. With a strong commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities, Malory brings a wide range of experience in both educational and therapeutic recreational settings. She has worked in education for nearly a decade, serving in roles such as Special Education Instructional Assistant, Special Education Teacher, Mentor Teacher, and Teacher Leader.
