Overview
Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is a framework for how districts and schools can build an effective, efficient, high-quality educational experience where every student thrives. A Multi-Tiered System of Support creates a structure to support schools with proactively leveraging strengths and to enhance identified opportunities by optimizing data-driven decision-making, evidence-based differentiated instruction matched to student needs, collective efficacy, and aligned professional learning and coaching. This course will further explore each of these elements.

You may already be incorporating many of these elements. The goal of this course is to deepen your understanding of Multi-Tiered System of Support to enable you to recognize strengths that currently exist within your system and identify elements that can enhance what you are doing to continue to build a system that supports each and every student's academic, behavior, attendance* and social-emotional needs.

*In a Multi-Tiered System of Support attendance is considered part of behavior/social emotional learning domains. It is called out explicitly here and in a few other places in the following modules. When it is not specifically named, keep in mind that it is incorporated within the above mentioned domains.

The course's four modules are designed to help participants gain a greater understanding of the following Multi-Tiered System of Support key concepts:

• Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is an early detection and prevention system

  • Shared responsibility
  • Continuous Improvement
