Join Estacada School District Administrators and TOSAs for a fun-filled day learning about
Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) math practices.
Across the US and in Oregon, there is growing teacher enthusiasm around BTC practices. In a BTC classroom, K-12 students work on math tasks in collaborative teams. Fifteen years of research backs up these approaches: students engage more, learn more, and get excited about math.
The morning portion of the day will focus on an overview of the research behind the 14 practices. We will focus specifically on the "First Tookit" (Engaging tasks, random groups, and verticle whiteboards). Later in the day will focus more on how to best support educators with implementing BTC practices.
All participants will be provided lunch and may choose
one item:
~K-12 Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics Book (orange)
~K-5 Building Thinking Classrooms TASK book (green)
~Set of 10 Wipebook surfaces
