Special Education Eligibility Criteria & Considerations

Participants will gain knowledge in:

  • Describe Oregon’s twelve disability categories including the six low incidence disabilities

  • Explain the assessment and eligibility criteria for all disability categories

  • Describe the purpose of Regional Inclusive Services (RIS) when it comes to special education eligibility

  • Locate RIS provider regions

These materials are self-paced and non-PDU-earning. Registrants can gain initial access to this material through June 12, 2026. ​The Office of Enhancing Student Opportunities and the Oregon Association of Education Service Districts worked collaboratively to create a partnership where each Education Service District provides regional professional development and technical assistance to special education teachers, case managers, and directors through the support of a Regional Technical Assistance Provider (RTAP).
