At this full day training (8 am - 3 pm), teachers will experience Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) math practices.

Across the US and in Oregon, there is growing teacher enthusiasm around BTC practices. In a BTC classroom, K-12 students work on math tasks in collaborative teams. Twenty years of research backs up these approaches: students engage more, learn more, and get excited about math.

Hosted by Clackamas ESD Math Specialist, Lori MacKenzie

You will:
  • Personally experience a BTC activity, in the role of a student
  • Learn about BTC Practices in "Toolkits 2 and 3" (Consolidation, Meaningful Notes, Thin Slicing, and more)
  • Visit secondary classrooms
  • Ask students and educators questions about the impacts of BTC
