Event Description

Welcome to NWRESD's Equity Onboarding Training facilitated by Inger McDowell-Hartye, Program Administrator
Welcome to the NW Regional Education Service District’s Equity Onboarding Training. We are thrilled to have you join us as we ground ourselves in the collective work of building an antiracist and liberatory educational system that centers the voices, experiences, and leadership of those most impacted by inequity.

This training will introduce you to the foundational tools, practices, and commitments that guide our equity-based continuous improvement work. This training supports the New Employee Orientation (NEO) offered through Human Resources and further expands on the districts equity initiatives, priorities, and embedded programming. All employees are encouraged to complete this training within 90 days of starting employment at the ESD.

Our Antiracist Continuum
We use an antiracist continuum to reflect on where individuals and institutions are in their racial equity journey—from color-blind and minimally aware stances to transformative and liberatory leadership. This tool helps us assess and grow our capacity to recognize, interrupt, and redesign inequitable practices and policies.

Liberatory Design Framework
Central to our approach is the Liberatory Design framework, a process that supports teams in co-creating solutions with those most impacted by inequity. It integrates design thinking with racial equity principles and includes modes such as:

Equity Lens
Antiracist Continuum
Liberatory Design
