Literacy Small Group Instruction Based on Data
Our Northwest Regional Education Service District Early Literacy Supports Team and the Oregon Response to Instruction and Intervention (ORTIi) Team is pleased to present a learning opportunity for individuals and school teams from Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, or Washington counties on small group instruction in the area of literacy based on data. The day will include the who, what, where, when and how of small group instruction including how to structure small groups, assessments that are helpful in determining which skills to target, and demonstrations of multiple small group lessons in the areas of word recognition and language comprehension. This is a pre-planning session for next school year.
The intended audience for this training includes all instructors in Pre-K through 5th grade settings, literacy coaches and specialists, school instructional leadership team members, and school administrators. Participants will practice creating small skill-based groups based on data, receive practical information about how to set the stage for successful small group and independent work in the classroom setting, and participate in live demonstrations of small group lessons. Please bring benchmark and diagnostic data for your students if you would like to use it during the training to work on making small groups.
Lunch will be provided. Please fill out the survey included in this event to indicate any dietary needs. Registration for this event closes at 4:00pm on 4/29/27.
