Making Content Comprehensible: The SIOP Model

Event Description

Participants will learn to use the SIOP Model, a planning and teaching framework that will help teachers integrate best teaching practices in their daily instruction. This professional learning will address developmentally and linguistically appropriate strategies and materials that effectively support and promote the academic achievement of all students, with particular attention to those classifiied as English learners. The text, Making Content Comprehensible for Multilingual Learners (6th ed., 2021) by Jana Echevarria, MaryEllen Vogt, Deborah Short, & Katie Toppel will be provided.  

In-person attendance at all three days and completion of all activities are required for 18 PDUs. Coffee and lunch are provided. Please dress in layers for temperature comfort. Bring a battery-charged laptop.  Please note that the building opens at 8 AM.
