Communication Matrix

Event Information:

This is a two-day learning event designed for educators and related service providers supporting students with complex communication needs, including students who are non-speaking or have significant sensory and access needs. Participants will build a strong foundation in using the Communication Matrix (CM) to assess communication and develop meaningful, instructionally aligned communication plans.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Understand the purpose and structure of the Communication Matrix
  • Accurately identify communication levels and functions
  • Complete and interpret a Communication Matrix profile
  • Develop communication plans aligned with daily instruction and IEP goals
  • Apply evidence-based strategies across environments

Who Should Attend: 

  • Registrants must be employed with a school district in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, or Washington County
     
  • Participants who may benefit most from this training include, but are not limited to:
    • Educators and service providers supporting students with complex communication needs, including special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, paraprofessionals, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and teachers of students with visual impairments.
