Section 504 Deep Dive

Event Information:
This session takes a deep dive into Section 504’s implementing regulations and related state and federal laws and guidance regarding disability civil rights. Special topics include specific conditions that may be covered under Section 504, disability-related behavior, and responding to parent complaints.

Who Should Attend:

Registrants must be employed with a school district in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, or Washington County
Participants who may benefit most from this training include, but are not limited to:
- Section 504 Coordinators, case managers, school counselors, school nurses, Civil Rights Coordinators, administrators, and other individuals with significant Section 504 responsibilities.

Instructor:

Marinda Peters, PhD (she/ella), is a Civil Rights Specialist at the Oregon Department of Education. In her role, Marinda specializes in rights and obligations under Section 504 and Title II of the ADA. She comes from 17 years of working in public education as a Professional School Counselor, Behavior Coach, and 504 Coordinator. Marinda has an MA in Counseling Psychology from Pacific University and earned her PhD in Counseling in 2017 from Oregon State University.
