Participants will…

  • Hear from regional and local agencies and providers that can support people with disabilities.
    • Organizations include Developmental Disabilities, Brokerage Services, and Vocational Rehabilitation.
  • Learn about connecting students to agencies, timeline recommendations, and how educators can help support students and families with this process.
  • Explore and discuss what's needed for effective collaboration and conversation between schools and agencies
  • Learn what supports and services agencies could provide to eligible clients (your students!)
  • Understand the Office of Developmental Disability Services (ODDS) employment services
  • Learn more about the changes in Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services
  • Learn about Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), a VR-funded service for students with disabilities, and how to get students connected

Who Should Attend: 

  • Registrants must be employed with a school district in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, or Washington County
     
  • Participants who may benefit most from this training include, but are not limited to:
    • K-12 Special Education Teachers, Compliance Specialists, Case Managers, Related Services Providers, or any other administrative/certified/classified staff.


Instructors: 
Sarah Statham, Transition Network Facilitator (TNF)Sarah Statham is the Transition Network Facilitator (TNF) for Multnomah, Washington, Columbia & Clatsop counties. Her role is to provide technical assistance and support interagency collaboration between schools and community partners to strengthen post-school outcomes for youth with disabilities. She holds her MEd in Secondary Special Education and has taught for over 20 years in both 18-21 programming and high school levels. She is an adjunct faculty member at Portland State University, teaching Interagency Collaboration and Person-Centered Supports. Sarah was part of the Seamless Transition Pilot Project with the state of Oregon and was awarded the Outstanding Transition Teacher of the Year in 2016 by OSTC. Sarah enjoys biking, reading, as well as hiking and snowshoeing with her family and dog Sawyer.

Photograph of Kriss RitaKriss Rita is a Transition Network Facilitator for Clackamas, Gilliam, Hood River, Marion, Polk, Sherman, Tillamook, Wasco, and Yamhill Counties. Her experience includes working as a Learning Specialist and Transition Coordinator for the Centennial School District serving students ages 16-21, organizing an international learning support program, teaching at The Green School of Bali, and teaching Interagency Collaboration and Person-Centered-Supports to upcoming special educators as an adjunct faculty member at Portland State University. She also holds a graduate certificate in Positive Psychology, a coaching certification, and a Love + Work Leadership certification, all of which fuel her passion to support students and teams to flourish.
