Event Description
This 4-day seminar on manufacturing machinery and class safety will take place at Sandy High School, July 27, 2026 - July 30, 2026. Participants will receive an in-depth overview of the day-to-day function and safety of a manufacturing shop, as well as surprise tools. Instructor Craig Anderson will equip you with the tools to bring your projects and curriculum to life.
Overview
This week-long session will provide you with the confidence to operate manufacturing shop machinery while maintaining a safe environment for all staff and students. Designed for introductory and intermediate manufacturing teachers. This course will provide you with the confidence to utilize machinery, hand tools, sawing, milling, sheet metal fabrication, geometric dimensioning, drawings, and much more! The goal is to give you the knowledge, experience, and lessons you can implement in your shops immediately.
Expectations
Come prepared for hands-on learning. Dress ready to work and perform the tasks; this includes long pants, closed-toed shoes, and no loose clothing or sleeves. Bring projects and drawings from your current curriculum, and notebooks to take notes along the way. A laptop is recommended, but not required.
Instruction
This seminar will be led by Craig Anderson, a Manufacturing Extraordinaire with nearly 50 years of industry experience. He will actively assist in teaching applicable skills and shop management for some current curriculum projects. He will work with you in the lab while teaching and answering questions. Guest instructors will also be present!
The week will be structured with safety practices for student operation in the shop. Welding instruction will start with skill development and move into applicable projects that build fabrication skills and apply welding abilities. All materials will be provided as part of the course.
