SIRC (Sexual Incident Response Committee) Training

Back

Event Details

This one day comprehensive training held in Seaside, OR will prepare building level teams to implement the Sexual Incident Response Committee (SIRC).  Recommended participants include school and district administrators, counselors, social workers, psychologists, deans of students, mental health specialists, behavior specialists, special education teams, school resource officers, and community partners supporting schools in safety and mental health.

The purpose of this all-day training is to:
  1. Help professionals understand the depth and breadth of the problems schools and communities are facing in attempting to meet federal guidelines by providing free access to public education (FAPE) for children with sexually concerning behavior while also being mindful of Title IX and special education concerns.
  2. Teach professionals a systematic school-based approach to identifying and addressing sexually concerning behavior in schools that can be applied across rural and urban settings with students in grades K-12.
  3. Demonstrate to professionals the ways in which implementing this model can improve school and community safety and decrease the burden to juvenile justice with regard to supervising children with concerning sexual behavior.
  4. Provide professionals practice implementing the Level 1 and Level 2 process.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities and non-native English speakers, to engage fully.
