Making Content Comprehensible: The SIOP Model K-12 Online

Event Details

Teachers will learn to use the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol or SIOP Model, a planning and teaching framework that will help teachers integrate best teaching practices in their daily instruction. This professional learning will address developmentally and linguistically appropriate strategies and materials that effectively support and promote the academic achievement of all students, with particular attention to our English learners. This training will be divided into asynchronous modules and activities to be completed on-your-own and three synchronous live sessions. An invitation to join the virtual classroom will be emailed to registrants a week prior to the event, along with a Zoom link to join the live sessions. Your text, Making Content Comprehensible for English Learners by Jana Echevarria, MaryEllen Vogt, and Deborah Short, will be mailed to you. Completion of all activities are required for 18 PDUs. Participants will need a computer and a good internet connection.
