Event Details

Registration for this workshop is now closed. Please contact Leah Hinkle for future BAL trainings!

Building Academic Language is an instructional workshop for teachers that focuses on teaching and learning academic language. Teachers will learn to analyze the language demands of academic tasks and strategies for demystifying the invisible medium of English. Based on research, this workshop addresses culturally and linguistically diverse students and challenges teachers to dissect the curriculum and their own teaching. This online training will be divided into asynchronous modules and activities to be completed on-your-own and three synchronous live sessions. An invitation to join the virtual classroom will be emailed to registrants a week prior to the event, along with a Zoom link to join the live sessions. Your text, Building Academic Language by Jeff Zwiers, will be mailed to you. Completion of all activities are required for 18 PDUs. Participants will need a computer and a good Internet connection.

Deadline for registration: 2/5

Price for Clackamas County School Districts (Partner Districts) = $90 All others = $180
