Join KCSD teachers for a new course that features two in-person meetings and 8 self-paced modules.  Topics include everything from classroom management and lesson design to social skills and creating a positive classroom culture.  This course will focus on a wide variety of questioning and engagement strategies appropriate for all grade levels and content areas, using the book, Kagan Cooperative Learning by Spencer Kagan as a guide.  Here's what you can expect:

*Attend two in-person meetings, Feb. 6 (Introduction) and May 14 (Celebration), 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the Henley Elementary Cafeteria.  (**Gilchrist Teachers:  Susan Lawrie will be facilitating the Intro and Celebration meetings at your school on Feb. 12 and May 13, 3:30-4:30.)

*At the Introduction meeting, you will receive: a Kagan Cooperative Learning book, a binder of slide copies for modules 1-4, and a flip-book of structures to use in your classroom.

*The week of March 11-15, through district mail, you will receive the slide copies for modules 5-8 and additional structures for your flip-book.  Modules 5-8 will be released at that time.

*For each module:  Watch the module and read the two associated chapters.  Try at least one new structure in your classroom and participate in the discussion board for that module in Schoology.  

*Each module is approximately 1 hour long.  You will be paid for two hours of time per module--1 hour for watching the module, 1/2 hour for the required reading for that module, and 1/2 hour for practicing and discussion board reflection.

*All modules and practice/reflection must be completed by May 10.  At the May 14 Celebration, you will receive a timecard for a total of 18 hours at curriculum pay, two hours per module and two hours for the in-person meetings.  You will also receive 18 PDUs.
