Event Description

Join Lynn Kuhn in a 2 day workshop on the Science of Reading.

The two-day workshop will include:
  • An introduction to the Evolving Science of Reading with Reading Rockets' article, Development of Phonological Awareness & Nell Dukes' article, The Science of Reading Progresses, Communicating Advances Beyond the Simple View of Reading.
  • Phonology – how to teach the articulatory features of the consonants and vowels and how to work with students’ errors and informal assessment of these skills.
  • Phonemic Awareness – the why’s and how’s of efficient teaching of phonemic awareness and how to work with students’ errors and informal assessment of these skills.
  • Handwriting – how to teach and informal assessment of these skills.
  • Teaching decodable and irregular words
  • Fluency – accuracy of reading individual letters, decodable irregular words.
