86920 Understanding & Guiding Behavior Cohort

Event Details


This is a 4 class cohort.  Participants must register for and attend all classes to get ORO credit.  The classes are:

5/1 6-9pm 86920 Exploration of Developmentally Appropriate Practices and Theories of Guiding Behaviors
Description: Participants will examine NAEYC's statement on DAP and Maslow's Hierarchy of needs. We will explore a variety of behavior guidance systems in order to develop strategies for guiding children's behaviors with intention.

5/8 6-9pm 86921 Emotion Coaching for Young Children 
Description: Participants will examine Meta-Emotions, the Four Parenting Styles, and the five steps to Emotion Coaching based on the work of the Talaris Institute and John Gottman, Ph.D. The purpose is to help parents and early childhood practitioners understand the importance of valuing emotions, both in children, and in themselves.

5/15 6-9pm 86922 Developing Impulse Control in Young Children
Description: 
This class explores applying techniques to help children develop impulse control. Young children and children with certain special needs struggle with impulse control. During this training, early childhood educators will explore methods to help these children develop their impulse control skills to the best of their abilities.

5/29 6-9pm 86924  Built for Success Supporting Positive Behavior Through Intentional Program Design
Description: 
Positive behavior begins with teaching, not correction. Build and renew your program thoughtfully by implementing proven practices to prevent behaviors that are challenging in a group care setting, teach the behaviors you want, and reinforce the behaviors that work. Investigate how the Pyramid Model can transform your program into a place where everyone is successful.

Terms: All participants must pay with a credit card or with a scholarship code issued by Clackamas CCR&R and must register for zoom classes in advance, the zoom link will be included in the class confirmation email. Classes canceled less than 2 business days in advance of the training date are not eligible for a refund. Please call 503 675-4100 or email ccrr@clacked.org to request a refund; refunds are not automatic. Hours will only be issued to participants who arrive no later than 15 minutes after the class begins, hours will be automatically uploaded to ORO by Clackamas CCR&R. Certificates will be emailed within a week of the class. Participants can only take one live online class at a time.
