Virtual Launch: Science PLC Guide

Event Details

Event Description

Guide Launch
Thursday, Sept. 18, 4:30-5:00

Are you implementing a new science curriculum (middle or high school) this year? Are you trying to figure out how to do challenging work when your professional learning time is limited?

This guide is designed for you!

This resource was developed with Oregon science educators in mind. How do we use current meeting structures, like PLCs, to take on ambitious and collaborative change work?

This guide provides activities and frameworks for helping your team get aligned, engage in shared learning, and plan for effective change work. It also contains five protocols to help your team launch new curriculum and instructional routines, reflect on student and teacher experiences, monitor impacts, and engage in improvement work.

You are invited to attend our 30 minute launch meeting. Participants will learn more about the inspiration for this guide, how your team can use and adapt it, with time to explore and reflect.

This meeting will be recorded and sent to anyone who registers. We recommend this session for middle and high school science department chairs, PLC leads, district and building administrators, and TOSAs.

In addition to this launch session, users of this guide can attend monthly virtual meetings to reflect on their efforts, connect with other team leaders, and process problems of practice. Click here to sign up for monthly meetings.
