Building Thinking Classrooms for Canby Educators

Back

Event Details

At this full day training (8 am - 3 pm)
Teachers will experience Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) math practices.

Across the US and in Oregon, there is growing teacher enthusiasm around BTC practices. In a BTC classroom, K-12 students work on math tasks in collaborative teams. Twenty years of research backs up these approaches: students engage more, learn more, and get excited about math.

Hosted by Clackamas ESD Math Specialist, Lori MacKenzie and the fabulous Amanda Grabber.

You will:
  • Personally experience a BTC activity, in the role of a student
  • Learn about Advanced BTC Practices (consolidation, meaninful notes, rubrics for behavior, etc.)
  • Visit middle school BTC classrooms
Notes:
  1. This event will be hosted at BAKER PRAIRIE MIDDLE SCHOOL in Canby.
  2. Lunch will be on your own.
