Across the US and in Oregon, there is growing teacher enthusiasm around BTC practices. In a BTC classroom, K-12 students work on math tasks in collaborative teams. Twenty+ years of research backs up these approaches: students engage more, learn more, and get excited about math.At this full day training, teachers will experience Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) math practices.

Hosted by Clackamas ESD Math Specialist, Lori MacKenzie

This event will begin at Oregon City High School. We will then move to Clackamas Community College for the remainder of the day.

You will:
  • Personally experience a BTC activity, in the role of a student
  • Learn about BTC Practices
  • Visit classrooms at Oregon City High School and Clackamas Community College using BTC practices
  • Ask students and educators questions about the impacts of BTC
