Event Details

Event Description

Paraeducators and school staff navigate challenging moments every day, from refusal and dysregulation to transitions and peer conflict. This interactive, scenario-based workshop provides space to explore what behavior may communicate, consider underlying needs, and practice adult responses that support dignity, connection, regulation, and belonging-the foundations for learning.

Key Takeaways

  • Multiple Perspectives: Explore how identity, experiences, culture, communication, and context shape how behavior is interpreted.
  • Co-Regulation & De-Escalation: Practice responses that support regulation, connection, and dignity.
  • Communication Tools: Develop authentic, practical language for difficult moments with students, staff, and families.
  • Flexible Problem-Solving: Adapt responses based on student needs, environmental factors, and changing situations.
  • Supportive Practices: Consider proactive approaches grounded in equity, restorative practices, TSEL, UDL, and relationship-building.
