Structured Literacy: Bringing the Science of Reading into the Classroom. January 5-February 25, 2021. This live virtual course (32 in-person hours) for teachers of all levels provides the tools of structured literacy to explicitly and thoughtfully teach all components of reading and spelling. Sasha Borenstein M.Ed. brings decades of teaching experience and an engaging approach to this interactive workshop grounded in reading research, including orthography, letter/sound patterns, syllable types, and morphology. This workshop offers foundational knowledge and skills for all teachers who seek to better support beginning, emergent, and struggling readers at any level. Cost: $400. Three optional graduate credits are also available from Southern Oregon University (ENG 509) at reduced cost.
